Research Associate (m/f/d) in Data Science in Cancer Research
at the Department of Medicine I, University Hospital Dresden

 

 

The position is available starting July 1, 2025, and is initially limited to 24 months, with both full-time and part-time options. According to the collective agreement for public service employees of the German federal states (TV-L); classification up to pay grade E13 depending on qualifications.

 

You will be working within the interdisciplinary research group "AI in Cancer" at the University Hospital Dresden. Our group develops data-driven solutions to support clinical decision-making in hematology. Our work bridges machine learning methods with real-world clinical data to address key challenges in prediction, prognosis, and personalized medicine.

Your Responsibilities:

 

  • Design and implementation of machine learning pipelines for structured clinical datasets

  • Development of frameworks for generating synthetic tabular data for clinical research

  • Analysis and visualization of model outputs to generate interpretable results

  • Contribution to scientific publications and conference presentations

 

A Perfect Fit – Your Profile:

 

  • Completed university degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in computer science, data science, bioinformatics, or a related field

  • Strong programming skills in Python, particularly for complex data analysis using pandas, scikit-learn, and data visualization with matplotlib and/or seaborn

  • Experience with version-controlled and collaborative research environments (e.g., Git)

  • Solid understanding of the entire machine learning workflow: Data preprocessing and feature engineering, Model selection and training

  • validation and evaluation

  • Desirable qualifications: Experience with biomedical data or clinical research, familarity with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow

  • Excellent command of English, as English is the working language of the team
