The University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus offers the opportunity to obtain an academic professional qualification in numerous professional fields through a dual or training-related course of study and to master the entry into professional life.

In our role as a teaching hospital of the Medical Faculty of the Technical University of Dresden, we offer numerous opportunities for students of human medicine and dentistry to complete their compulsory internships in one of the most modern hospitals in Germany, providing patient care at the highest level.

In addition to the offers for the dual study programs and compulsory internships, we also provide opportunities for students of other study programs to gain practical experience at Dresden University Hospital.

Dual study programs
As a company partner in the dual study programs, Dresden University Hospital enables students to gain professional experience during their studies and take a comprehensive look behind the scenes of everyday hospital life.
In the theoretical study phases, students acquire the necessary knowledge to apply in the subsequent practical phases.

Clinical traineeships and internships
During a clinical traineeship at Dresden University Hospital, students gain their first practical experience under the guidance of our doctors and gain an insight into interesting specialist areas.

Practical year
The practical year (PJ) is the final stage of medical studies and provides important practical experience for working as a doctor. The aim of the practical year is to deepen and expand the knowledge acquired during the previous course of study.
