The position is available from May 1, 2026, either full-time or part-time, and is limited to 3 years. Compensation is based on the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Public Service of the Federal States (TV-L) and, subject to the fulfillment of the personal requirements, classification in pay grade E13 is possible.
Your Role – Where Your Expertise Is Needed:

Research and development of innovative bioelectronic systems with a focus on biodegradable (“transient”) electronics for medical applications

Design and fabrication of sustainable electrodes, sensors, and electronic circuits using biocompatible and biodegradable materials
-
Integration of novel materials into functional devices using additive manufacturing technologies such as 3D printing
-
Development and implementation of advanced testing strategies (e.g., biocompatibility, biodegradation, accelerated aging) for preclinical validation
-
Scientific contribution and coordination within the research area “Short-Life Electronics” as part of the REC2 consortium

Publication and presentation of research results in high-ranking scientific journals and at international conferences

Active contribution to research strategy through acquisition of third-party funding as well as participation in teaching and the supervision of early-career researchers
Your Profile – A Perfect Fit:

Completed university degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field

Completed doctorate (PhD) in the field of medical devices, bioelectronics, microfabrication, sustainability science, or a closely related research area

Very good written and spoken English skills

Strong scientific expertise enabling the independent handling of complex research questions and interdisciplinary communication with international colleagues

Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration, ideally in a clinical environment, and a strong solution-oriented working style

Initial demonstrable experience in the conception, implementation, and publication of research projects

Practical expertise in the design, fabrication, integration, and testing of wearable sensor–actuator systems
-
Demonstrated scientific interest in bioelectronic medicine, neuroprosthetics, brain–machine interfaces, and sustainable technologies
