Biomedical Engineer (m/f/d)

at the Else Kröner Fresenius Center for Digital Health

 

 

 

 

The position is available from May 1, 2026, either full-time or part-time, and is limited to 3 years. Compensation is based on the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Public Service of the Federal States (TV-L) and, subject to the fulfillment of the personal requirements, classification in pay grade E13 is possible.

 

 

Your Role – Where Your Expertise Is Needed:

 

  • Research and development of innovative bioelectronic systems with a focus on biodegradable (“transient”) electronics for medical applications

  • Design and fabrication of sustainable electrodes, sensors, and electronic circuits using biocompatible and biodegradable materials

  • Integration of novel materials into functional devices using additive manufacturing technologies such as 3D printing

  • Development and implementation of advanced testing strategies (e.g., biocompatibility, biodegradation, accelerated aging) for preclinical validation

  • Scientific contribution and coordination within the research area “Short-Life Electronics” as part of the REC2 consortium

  • Publication and presentation of research results in high-ranking scientific journals and at international conferences

  • Active contribution to research strategy through acquisition of third-party funding as well as participation in teaching and the supervision of early-career researchers

 

 

Your Profile – A Perfect Fit:

 

  • Completed university degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field

  • Completed doctorate (PhD) in the field of medical devices, bioelectronics, microfabrication, sustainability science, or a closely related research area

  • Very good written and spoken English skills

  • Strong scientific expertise enabling the independent handling of complex research questions and interdisciplinary communication with international colleagues

  • Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration, ideally in a clinical environment, and a strong solution-oriented working style

  • Initial demonstrable experience in the conception, implementation, and publication of research projects

  • Practical expertise in the design, fabrication, integration, and testing of wearable sensor–actuator systems

  • Demonstrated scientific interest in bioelectronic medicine, neuroprosthetics, brain–machine interfaces, and sustainable technologies
