Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/d) - Supported Lipid Bilayers (SLBs) on SiO₂ Chips
Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/d) — Supported Lipid Bilayers (SLBs) on SiO₂ Chips
The position is to be filled as soon as possible, starting on April 1, 2026, on a full-time or part-time basis, and is limited until November 30, 2027. Salary is based on the provisions of the applicable labour agreement. Depending on the personal requirements, classification in pay grade E13 is possible.
Aster Bioelectronics (GO-Bio funded) develops a wearable biosensor for continuous biomarker monitoring in interstitial fluid. The core technology is a robust bio–silicon interface: functional supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) on silicon oxide chips. Biology partners provide proteins/antibodies and labeled constructs; you will translate these into a stable, quantitative SLB-on-chip assay platform. Collaboration with teams at TUD and TUM.
Your Responsibilities:
- Form and optimize SLBs on Si/SiO₂ chips (surface prep, lipid/buffer conditions, QC).
- Functionalize SLBs for protein attachment (e.g., His-tag/Ni-NTA, biotin–streptavidin, other orthogonal chemistries).
- Develop and run stability + performance assays (bilayer integrity/reproducibility, protein retention/function, fouling resistance).
- Execute binding assays on SLBs with fluorescence readouts (incl. FRET) and report quantitative metrics.
- Create reproducible SOPs and data-driven optimization cycles.
Your Profil:
- PhD in biophysics, physical chemistry, bioengineering, surface science, or related field.
- Strong practical expertise with SLBs and membrane functionalization (preferably on SiO₂).
- Experience with fluorescence methods for membrane assays; FRET is a plus.
- High experimental rigor and documentation skills; comfortable in interdisciplinary teams.
Our offer:
- Full-time postdoctoral contract (24 months) at TU Dresden (TUD), Germany.
- Key ownership of the SLB-on-chip module in a translational, high-impact biosensor program.
- Close collaboration with TUD/TUM partners and access to excellent research infrastructure.
-
