Postdoctoral Scientist in CAR-NK Cell Immunotherapy
The position is available immediately.
The "NK Cell Therapy" research group at the Institute of Transfusion Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Carl Gustav Carus, Technische Universität Dresden, is looking for a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Researcher (Postdoc) to join our team. Our group is at the forefront of research on CAR-NK cells, which have demonstrated clinical efficacy in treating hematological malignancies and show significant potential against autoimmune diseases. This project focuses on developing innovative CAR-NK cell therapies targeting severe autoimmune disorders. It is part of the SaxoCell consortium (winner of the Clusters4Future initiative), which is pioneering the development of novel personalized gene and cell-based therapies, so-called "living drugs." About SaxoCell: https://www.saxocell.de. Your role will involve developing novel CAR-NK cell products targeting autoimmune diseases and optimizing non-viral, mRNA-based genetic engineering methods for NK cells to produce clinically applicable products. You will characterize and test these products to establish preclinical proof of concept and support the development of clinical-scale GMP production processes. This position requires independently planning and executing experiments to advance your project while contributing innovative ideas. Additionally, you will collaborate within our team and across the SaxoCell consortium, co-supervise PhD and MD students, and regularly document and present your findings at internal meetings.
Your Profile:
- PhD in Biology or a related field with an excellent academic track record
- Solid knowledge of immunology
- Proven expertise in mRNA-based gene transfer for over 3 years
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience with genetic engineering of human NK or T cells
- Experience with autoimmune diseases is a significant advantage
- Strong background in immunology techniques, including cell culture, multi-parameter flow cytometry, molecular cloning, CRISPR-Cas9 technology, mRNA technology, cytotoxicity assays, transduction/transfection, microscopy, and more
- Passionate about developing groundbreaking cellular therapies, with a strong grasp of both scientific and technical principles
- Organized, goal-oriented, and diligent with a creative approach to problem-solving
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
