The position is available as soon as possible, either full-time or part-time, initially limited to 24 months, with the option of extension and longer-term collaboration. Compensation is based on the applicable collective bargaining agreement and, subject to fulfillment of the personal requirements, may be classified according to pay grade E13.
The Else Kröner-Fresenius Center for Digital Health (EKFZ), a joint center of the Carl Gustav Carus Medical Faculty of Dresden University of Technology and Dresden University Hospital, promotes translational and interdisciplinary research in the field of digital medicine and health. The center, which is funded by the Else Kröner-Fresenius Foundation, cooperates closely with many high-tech specialists in Dresden's research environment and aims to strengthen and promote cooperation with university medicine.
The position is embedded in an interdisciplinary and international research environment within the “Medical Device Regulatory Science” research group led by Prof. Steven Gilbert and involves close collaboration with academic institutions and practice partners.
Your responsibilities:
- Contribute to applied research and prototyping projects in the field of cybersecurity for medical technologies and digital clinical infrastructures
- Collaborate with academic partners and healthcare practitioners
- Develop and evaluate applications for automated and AI-assisted support of security documentation
- Analyze technical security requirements and translate them into practical and implementable solutions
- Assess and evaluate the security of AI systems in healthcare settings
- Support research activities related to cybersecurity policy and governance issues
- Prepare scientific publications and present research findings at conferences and other professional events
- Contribute to knowledge transfer between research, practice, and relevant stakeholders
Your profile:
- Master’s degree in computer science, bioengineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field
- Proficient in English (written and spoken)
- Agile mindset with a high level of motivation and an adaptable working style
- Coding experience (e.g., Python)
- Research experience (e.g., publications as first or co-author)
- Verifiable experience in at least two of the following areas:

- Cybersecurity governance and policy (e.g., standards, regulations, guidance)
- Cybersecurity management (e.g., threat modeling)
- Technical cybersecurity (e.g., secure development)
- Cybersecurity operations and response (e.g., monitoring, detection, investigation, incident response)
- Offensive cybersecurity (e.g., penetration testing, red teaming, vulnerability assessment)
- Cybersecurity of AI systems
- Cybersecurity in healthcare
- Prototyping and development of AI/LLM-enabled applications (e.g., python-based prototyping, LLM applications, agentic workflows)
- Interest in interdisciplinary work at the interface of digital health, medical devices, hospitals, and cybersecurity policy/regulation
- The position is based in Dresden
