The position is to be filled as soon as possible, either full-time or part-time, for a fixed term of 24 months. It is remunerated according to the salary regulations of the applicable institutional collective agreement. Depending on qualifications and experience, classification up to pay group U13 is possible.
The attached job advertisement is for a research associate position focused on the development of a next-generation sequencing platform at the Laboratory Diagnostics Center, Dresden University Hospital.

Your Role – Where Your Expertise Is Needed:
- Implement and validate state-of-the-art sequencing technologies (short-read and long-read) for diverse medical and scientific applications
- Establish and further develop an innovative metagenome sequencing platform for clinical diagnostics and hospital hygiene
- Optimize and standardize sample preparation, sequencing workflows, quality control, and data analysis
- Collaborate closely with clinical and diagnostic partners on methodological and regulatory implementation within healthcare settings
- Document and present scientific results in accordance with current quality and accreditation standards
- Contribute to grant proposals as well as interdisciplinary research and development projects within the institute
- Actively shape a pioneering diagnostics platform with direct clinical and scientific impact
Your Profile – A Perfect Fit:
- Completed scientific university degree and doctorate in molecular biology, bioinformatics, microbiology, medical biotechnology, or related fields.
- Proven practical experience with high-throughput sequencing (short-read and/or long-read).
- Desirable: Knowledge in microbial genomics, metagenomics, quality control, and data analysis.
- Advantageous: Experience in laboratory diagnostics, validation, or clinical method implementation.
- High motivation, communication skills, teamwork, and a structured, independent approach.
- Strong interest in translational diagnostics.
